Studio Bessangana works with artisans across the African continent — weavers, dyers, makers whose skill deserves preservation, continuity and promotion. Every piece starts with our hands.

We blend techniques passed down over generations, in small batches, made to be worn rather than replaced each season. 

I started Studio Bessangana after making the decision to decolonize my closet. It mattered to me to learn from the incredibly skilled artisans I met along the way, and to support their work in whatever small-scale capacity-building way I could.

I wanted to be conscious about what I adorned myself with, and I wanted the clothes I wear to actually reflect who made them.

My job is mostly to let that craftsmanship lead. Thank you for being part of it.
